Hesitancy in the property market is having a domino effect, with stuttering home movers put off by Brexit forcing agency owners to re-evaluate their recruitment programmes.
Speaking to Property Industry Eye, agency recruitment specialist Anthony Hesse highlighted how agents were unsure of whether to replace departing members of staff for fear of the unknown – with the prospect of an extended Brexit negotiation cited as a major concern.
In lettings especially, it is totally understandable that resignations and natural wastage present recruitment questions, particularly as there are attractive fixed-cost savings to be made by not replacing staff. The private rental sector, however, is compliance heavy, and good staff with expert knowledge are needed to ensure legal and regulatory obligations are met from the point of instruction right through to deposit recovery and end of tenancy.
